Doom (1993)
Begin your journey with the original Doom.
As a space marine stationed on Mars, you fight through hordes of invading demons from Hell.
The gameplay is relatively simple, involving defeating enemies, collecting keycards, and navigating levels.
Doom II: Hell on Earth (1994)
Continuing directly after Doom, the sequel sees the demons reaching the planet Earth.
Doom II expanded upon what made the original game so great.
It also featured new enemy types and larger levels, offering a more challenging experience.
Final Doom (1996)
Though not developed by id Software, Final Doom is an official expansion, consisting of two new storylines: “TNT: Evilution” and “The Plutonia Experiment”.
Doom 64 (1997)
Doom 64 presents a direct sequel to Doom II, but for the Nintendo 64 video game system.
The storyline in “Doom 64” is a continuation of the original series, and begins with a demonic invasion that has resurfaced on Phobos, one of Mars’ moons. The game introduces a new artifact known as the Mother Demon, a powerful entity that has revitalized the demonic forces.
Doom 3 (2004)
Doom 3 marks a significant departure, focusing more on horror and narrative-driven experience.
Set in a reimagined Mars facility, it’s technically a reboot but is often considered a prequel.
Doom (2016)
“Doom” (2016) returns to the fast-paced roots of the original games, while incorporating contemporary graphics and gameplay mechanics.
It reimagines the original game’s plot, beginning with the awakening of the Doom Slayer and his attempt at thwarting a demonic invasion on Mars.
Doom Eternal (2020)
Building on its predecessor’s success, Doom Eternal offers an expanded narrative, larger-scale environments, and new gameplay features.
The game follows the Doom Slayer, an ancient warrior who battles the demonic forces of Hell.
