Baldur’s Gate is a city which is situated on the western coast of the continent of Faerûn, along the Sword Coast.
The city itself is named after the legendary hero Balduran, and it is famed for its commercial prowess and strategic military location, as well as its diverse population of humans, elves, and dwarves.
The city is a melting pot of political intrigue, with various factions vying for power.
Baldur’s Gate is also notable for being the setting of the critically acclaimed computer role-playing game series by the same name, developed by BioWare. The first game, Baldur’s Gate, released in 1998, was revolutionary for its time, offering an expansive world to explore, a deep storyline based on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition ruleset, and the ability to interact with a wide range of characters, each with their own personalities and backgrounds.
